Editorial comments in a Jordanian newspaper:
'Muslims of the world be reasonable,' wrote Mr Momani.Jihad Momani has now been fired, forced to apologize, arrested and charged with insulting religion. I think that clarifies the correct answer to his question.
'What brings more prejudice against Islam, these caricatures or pictures of a hostage-taker slashing the throat of his victim in front of the cameras or a suicide bomber who blows himself up during a wedding ceremony in Amman?'

Eh, Arab freedom. These people are living in the 13th century. But hey, we shouldn't judge other cultures. In other cultures it's OK to behead people on TV, to the cheers of the onlookers. Who are we to judge? It's their culture. Long live multiculturalism! - although if it does, some of us might not live much.
Multiculturalism is socially beneficial when the cultures concerned are given a fair chance to succeed. Compare the moslem population of the US and Europe. Rioting and acts of violence are exceeding rare among US moslems whose average income is higher than that of the population at large. Obviously this isn't the case in Europe.
The argument doesn't stand at all. First, Muslims in Europe are not faring that bad, especially in Britain. That didn't make them less prone to jihad, which has seen quite a number of British Muslims.
There are no riots in the US? The Muslim population is too small and unaggregated. But where it is agregated, there ARE riots, typically ather universities. San Francisco state?
The politics of multiculturalism is good as long as certain fundamental assumptions are respected - namely that whichever culture we mention, it should be compatible with and respect the Bill of Rights. Obviouwly, the dominant Muslim culture is not. Obviously others are.
You know, Muslims aren't the only immigrants in Europe. But the are the only ones who spit on the face of Europe.
What riots - you have an example of anything remotely resembling the car-torching that recently happened in in France? The muslim population here is affluent and integrated. In Europe, they are indeed faring badly by any economic indicator you choose (unemployment, education, income).
