I've taken to reading detective fiction by Georges Simenon on Friday nights. The Maigret novels are perfect for a single sitting. In 150 pages, Simenon conjures up a Paris populated by desperate criminals and gourmande policemen drinking red wine with lunch. The city abounds with sexual dalliances, hidden by the mist and fog, while our hero each evening returns home to his cosy wife and home. Simenon himself was known as the man of 10000 women - odd that his protagonist should be the very model of a faithful husband.

Sorry to put it here, but there is another article from Beilin in Forward. It looks like a collaboration Chomsky-Hamas.
you mean this - come on - this is not remotely chomsky or hamas polemicism.
beilin is quite right that:
(1) israeli papers routinely carry criticism far harsher than carter's.
(2) he clearly expresses pain and disagreement with carter's choice of title and any suggestion that apartheid is the right description for israeli policies in the territories.
beilin's piece is inadequate because:
(1) carter's motives may reasonably be questioned due to the huge sponsorship he has received from the gulf states.
(2) he ignores the charges of inaccuracy and plagiarism leveled against carter.
The fact that you can find an Israeli newspaper that says what Carter says or worse is not an argument. Ha'aretz regularly publishes calls to destroy Israel ourtright or articles lionizing any Arab that murders Jewss by Israeli Jews such as Amira Hass, Meron Benvenisti, Gideon Levy, Yossi Beilin. These are dementedly anti-Semitic and their nationality does not excuse what they say. Chomsky too is an anti-semitic Jew who regularly says he's not anti-Semitic because he's a Jew - the standard answer of every Communist or kapo or Neturei Karta Jew.
Beilin also has an inordinate fondness for murderers of Jews - he likes them, he frees them when he can or asks for their freedom when they're in (Marwan) or licks their boots for a lifetime (Arafat). If you want to mass-murder Jews, your best bet for a defender is Yossi Beilin.
The actually good thing about this truly evil soul, whose conscience is expressed mainly as an attraction to murderer of Jews (he's similar in that sense to the German who a few years ago yearned and managed to be cannibalized, only that Beilin wishes that upon Israeli Jews as a whole, not just himself), is that he destroys every party he is a member of. In 2001 and 2003, he single-handedly engineered the demise of Labour. Right now, he's working hard at Meretz - he's got it down to 5 MKs from 10, and I have reasonable hopes he gets it down to 1 or 2. After that, my dream is that he will move to Shas and deal with them in the same way. If he does that, I will see him as a positive figure in Israeli history.
Enough of this evasive banter, Victor. Tell us how you really feel about Yossi Beilin.

What one finds in an average day: meet Jeff Halper, an Israeli, NGO founder, professor of anthropology (what else?) at Beer-Sheva who routinely advocates Israel's boycott and its ultimate destruction as a state.
Halper entered the Carter fray. He is a bit critical of Carter for being too lenient to the Israelis.
By beloved Beilin's criteria, Carter is thus OK, and so Is Beilin - yo, there's an Israeli who tops Jimmy!
In New York there was a Jew who was second in command for an Aryan supremacist group (and bombed synagogues such as that in which he had had a bar mitzvah). I'm sure he'll soon appear -legitimately, isn't it?- in some defense of Carter, Arafat, Barghouthi or whatever boot the poodle Beilin licks that week.
I'm sure the touchy-feely reality-free humanities Jews (like Beilin, who being too dumb for science, studied political "science") will have a ready explanation for how this shows you cannot be anti-Semite when a Jew was a neo-Nazi, all with a touch of Sartre and Freud added to the argument like one adds borscht to a shitty soup.

By metonymy (that single figure of speech known to journalists), soups containing it are called borscht.
thats surprising. is the additive peculiar to soups containing it derived from beet? in the dead of winter it is a great pleasure to spend an entire day slowly boiling borscht in a large vat. at least, i think its borscht.
