No Xenophobia in Saudia Arabia

The Saudi Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice is considering banning the letter X:
The letter 'X' soon may be banned in Saudi Arabia because it resembles the mother of all banned religious symbols in the oil kingdom: the cross.
And let me tell you, the letter t isn't far behind.

Hey! Don't make fun of Saudi Arabs. Just because they consider you a dog to be killed if you step on the holy soil of their country (or if you happen to live in downtwon Manhattan), that doesn't mean you have the slightest right to be sneering. In some cultures they like beheading people, forbidding X and killing all infidels. Got a problem with that? You should respect other cultures, even if they ask for your own throat to be slit. Otherwise, you commit the sin of disrespect to multiculturalism. So, there you have it: your choice is between being against multiculturalism or being against peoople who would gleefully (and proudly taping themselves on video) murder you. Being a true left-winger, I hope you understand your own life comes second to respecting other cultures.

very shortsighted. have they, for a moment, considered the ramifications for the saudi adult entertainment industry?

welcome back dr v! you didn't miss much - a lot of vitriolic debate about superior distributions of the linux OS.

actually, as a 'true left winger', i am of the opinion that human rights should be universally enjoyed. i see no reason why liberty should remain the patrimony of people who happen to be born in western democracies. it is you 'realists' who seem to think its OK to let people suffer from the accident of their birth.

yes... the saudi adult entertainment industry. thats worth a google search!

Google: Your search - "saudi adult entertainment industry" - did not match any documents.

Maybe we need to try in Arabic?

Well I agree with your position on human rights and I am not one of the realists. Unfortunately that places both of us squarely in the ranks of neoconservatives. Yes, the dreaded neocons. The true left wingers of these days are in the public square hailing suicide bombers, burning Israeli flags and railing about the conspiracy of Jews or as, they delicately put it, people of money from New York, Zionists, certain circles from the East Coast, neocons, etc.

I think I found what you're looking for. Don't open at work, or around small children and female partners, but it's good for a quick laugh.

interesting. i'm not sure that we were looking for that, but ok. it certainly raises the bar on the level of discourse at this site.

just to clarify, if this new law takes effect, will that site have to remove all of the xxxes?

it did occur to me that in a few weeks casf may become the top-ranked result for "saudi adult entertainment industry." a very noble distinction.

It would be a tremendous distinction to be the top ranked site for 'Saudi Adult Entertainment Industry'. I've worked hard on this blog and feel that such an honor is my due.

According to its WHOIS record, the arabstreethookers site is run by Rando Feliz of 2000 Kennedy Ave, Santo Domingo. Saudi Adult Industry I think not. I hope Mr Domingo not secretly aspire to attain top spot on the google rankings. I wouldn't take that lying down.

Heretoforth, I pronounce myself Sheikh X.

Of course there is a Saudi adult entertainment industry. It consists of videotaped state-sponsored public-square beheading, freely available on the web and on cassettes for the umma.
